Meet Garth

Hi, I’m Garth Strand and I’d like to be your representative in the Kansas House for District 104. Will you vote for me in November, 2020?

Read what others have to say about me

I was born and raised on a farm in Morris County Kansas where I learned how to work hard, have fun, respect the land and help my neighbors. I graduated from K-State with degrees in Business Management and Education. I thought I was going to teach high school business classes. Well, as we know, life is what happens when we are busy making other plans! After my student teaching, I decided that was not for me. A big, sincere ‘hat’s off’ to all teachers. It’s a tough assignment! Moving on with ‘Plan B’, I soon found myself in the finance world and shortly thereafter discovered the cooperative world of credit unions. It was an excellent match for me, using what I learned growing up…work hard, have fun and help my neighbors. I enjoyed a productive and successful 37 year career with Hutchinson, now Heartland Credit Union.

Along the way, I have enjoyed my family, friends, church and community. I have been blessed with good health and have enjoyed being active throughout my life with volunteering, backpacking, bicycle riding and gardening being top contenders. While I can’t say I’m an environmental activist, I am highly interested [and concerned] about our planet.

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world: indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.
